Yes, MOST FLU VACCINES DO CONTAIN MERCURY:
There are Healthier Alternatives!
Seems like every time you turn around, someone is telling us to get our flu shot...
Few of the 130 million people receiving this vaccination each year realize that most
flu shots contain harmful dosages of mercury. About 80% of all flu shots distributed
in the United States contain a mercury-based preservative called thimerosal.
According to health officials, people getting flu-shots need to request a
thimerosal-free vaccination. These vaccines cost roughly $4 more to manufacture and
distribute.

RELATED QUOTE & FACTS:
QUOTE: "There's no conclusive scientific evidence that the amount of mercury one
might get from a flu shot is linked with any neurological development outcome that's
negative." --- Jeanne Santoli, deputy director of immunization services division for
the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
FACT: A typical flu shot contains 50,000 parts per billion of mercury.
FACT: The EPA classifies a liquid with 200 parts per billion of mercury as hazardous
waste.
FACT: The legal "safe" limit for mercury in drinking water is 2 parts per billion
FACT: For each flu-shot, a 22-pound baby gets more than 25 times the amount of
mercury considered safe. And doctors are recommending that many babies and children
get two flu shots this season.
FACT: A material safety data sheet from Eli Lilly and Co., a former producer of flu
vaccines, says exposure to thimerosal may include "fetal changes, decreased
offspring survival and lung tissue changes. Exposure in utero and in children may
cause mild to severe mental retardation and mild to severe motor coordination
impairment."
My recommendations for a healthy immune system INSTEAD of getting a dangerous
"shot of mercury"
1. Source Natural Mushroom Immune Defense - (2-4 daily during flu season)
2. Sequel Naturals Colostrum Lozenges (2-3 daily during flu season)
3. Eat Healthy foods that God made... not junk, and especially not sugar and sodas
4. If you are feeling tired and run down, GO TO BED... the immune system function
best when we are asleep.
5. Watch your urine pH. If you stay alkaline (7.4 is perfect)... those bugs just
won't be able to take up residence in YOU! If you are acidic you are just asking for
sickness to come. Increase your pH with greens, chlorella and coral minerals.
Got the "Winter Blues"? Increase your Omega-3s
Feeling "SAD"? Fish oil diminishes seasonal affective disorder
by Craig Weatherby
It's that time of year again. Are you feeling sad, anxious, or listless? Are you
oversleeping? Do you have unsual cravings for sweets or heavy starches? You may be
suffering the effects of "SAD". An estimated 35 million Americans-including
children-suffer from seasonal affective disorder (SAD). After months of short, dark
days, the "winter blues" can be very depressing and debilitating.
Even Eskimos get SAD, absent omega-3s
The indigenous peoples of the far north depend on fatty, omega-3-rich fish, seals,
and whales to maintain the high caloric intake and ample body fat needed to survive
long, brutal Artic winters. Recently, researchers at the University of Alaska at
Fairbanks concluded that these native peoples also depend on omega-3-rich foods to
avoid the depressing effects of SAD.
As the researchers concluded in their 2003 study, "The change … from traditional
foods to today's processed groceries ... has already led to … increased rates of
depression, seasonal affective disorder, anxiety, and suicide ... we hypothesize
that diet is an important risk factor for mental health in circumpolar peoples."
(McGrath-Hanna MK et al 2004)
SAD is usually treated with antidepressants such as Prozac or Zoloft-whose
effectiveness remains unclear-and with light therapy, in which sufferers sit in
front of a strong light for 30-120 minutes every day.
Fish oil seen as mood supporter
As Omega-3s can elevate mood, reduce depression, and reduce the risk of suicide,
fatty fish and fish oil supplements should be part of any anti-SAD strategy.
Researchers at the Harvard University Medical School described the promising state
of scientific knowledge concerning the preventive/therapeutic promise of
fish-derived omega-3s (especially DHA) in a 2000 review article
(Mischoulon D, Fava M 2000):
• "Geographic areas where consumption of DHA is high are associated with decreased
rates of depression."
• "DHA deficiency states, such as alcoholism and the postpartum period, also are
linked with depression. Individuals with major depression have marked depletions
in omega-3 FAs (especially DHA) ..."
• "These data suggest that DHA may be associated with depression, and the limited
data available on supplementation with DHA or other omega-3 FAs seem to support the
hypothesis that DHA may have psychotropic [brain-changing] effects."
DHA Lowers Triglycerides in Patients Taking Statins
Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA enhance the effectiveness of statin medication in
patients with high blood lipids by lowering triglycerides by about 27%.
In previous studies it was reported that patients taking statin medications to lower
their LDL-cholesterol (“bad”) levels experienced additional hearth health benefits
when they added EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid, a long-chain omega-3 fatty acid) to
their treatment. Besides lowering their LDL-cholesterol levels, they had
significantly fewer major coronary events, such as a heart attack or coronary bypass
surgery, less unstable angina (chest pain because of heart disease) and fewer other
non-fatal heart problems. What made these findings even more surprising is that they
occurred in a large sample of Japanese patients with high cholesterol and
triglyceride (blood fat) levels who already consume much more fish and long-chain
omega-3 fatty acids than most people in western countries. In these 61-year-old
patients, increased intake of EPA improved their heart health.
A new study from Australia reported that in a sample of 45 patients taking statins
to improve their blood lipids, the addition of tuna oil to their treatment provided
greater heart health benefits than statins alone. These patients had both high
cholesterol and triglyceride levels. They were divided into 3 groups: one taking
just over 1 gram/day of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid, a long-chain omega-3 fatty acid
abundant in tuna oil), another taking just over 2 grams/day of DHA and a control
group consuming olive oil. Tuna oil also contains about 25% EPA in addition to DHA.
After 3 and 6 months, the investigators measured their patients’ blood lipid levels.
Over the course of the study, all patients consuming tuna oil saw their blood
triglyceride levels fall. Those taking the highest dose, 2 grams of DHA/day,
experienced a significant drop in their triglycerides after only 3 months. At 6
months, their triglycerides remained significantly lower, but did not decrease
further. In the group taking 1 g/day of DHA, their triglycerides fell at both 3 and
6 months, but the drop did not reach statistical significance.
These 2 studies and previous reports of fish oil and blood lipids indicate that
patients taking statin medications may obtain additional heart health advantages by
consuming marine omega-3s ( EPA and DHA) – found in fatty fish or fish oil
supplements. These fatty acids have the advantage over other drugs in being well
tolerated, safe and without adverse side effects. This proves food can be your
medicine!

Limiting Refined Carbohydrates Stalls Age-Related Macular Degeneration
Eating fewer refined carbohydrates may slow the progression of age-related macular
degeneration (AMD) and ease the growing public health burden due to vision loss,
report Tufts researchers. People who consumed the most refined carbohydrates were
17% more likely to develop blinding AMD than those who consumed the least.
Dietary glycemic index is a scale used to determine how quickly carbohydrates are
broken down into blood sugar, or glucose. Foods with a high glycemic index are
associated with a faster rise and subsequent drop in blood sugar. Refined
carbohydrates like white bread and white rice have high glycemic indices. Whole
grains such as barley, wild rice and green vegetables, protein foods are examples of
foods with low glycemic indices.
In the present study, Taylor and colleagues analyzed diet questionnaires completed
by 4,757 non-diabetic men and women participating in the nationwide Age-Releated Eye
Disease Study (AREDS). The eight-year AREDS study enrolled participants between the
ages of 55 and 80 with varying stages of AMD. Taylor and colleagues examined the
participants’ carbohydrate intake over a one-year period and used the data to
calculate the participants’ dietary glycemic index.
“Our data showed those people in the high-glycemic-index group were at greater risk
of AMD progression, especially those already in the late stages,” says first author
Chung-Jung Chiu, DDS, PhD, and assistant professor at Tufts University School of
Medicine. “Participants who consumed the most refined carbohydrates were 17 percent
more likely to develop blinding AMD than the group that consumed the least.”

Sunlight Cuts Risk of Many Cancers, Especially Breast Cancer
Two new studies indicate exposure to the sun may actually be beneficial in regards
to fighting cancer. Researchers from Stanford University reported their findings in
the American Journal of Epidemiology last week indicating that women who had higher
sun exposure had their risk of advanced breast cancer reduced by almost half.
According to a second research team who studied more than four million people in 11
countries, the risk of internal cancers except for skin cancers was lower among
people living in sunny countries. According to the researchers, "Vitamin D
production in the skin seems to decrease the risk of several solid cancers,
especially stomach, colorectal, liver and gall- bladder, pancreas, lung, female
breast, prostate, bladder and kidney cancers." Although food provides some vitamin
D, nearly 90% comes from exposure to sunlight.

63% Of Diabetics Risk Serious Foot Problems By Wearing Wrong Sized Shoes
Only one in three adults with diabetes wears shoes that fit properly, exposing
themselves to serious foot problems that could lead to amputation, a new British
study shows. The researchers measured the feet and shoes of 100 adults with diabetes
at a diabetes clinic.
Ulceration can have serious implications for patients and health services, including
impaired quality of life, increased amputation risk and even elevated death rates.
A hundred patients aged 24 to 89 volunteered to take part in the shoe-size study
carried out at a general diabetic clinic at Ninewells Hospital Medical School in
Dundee, Scotland. Patients who were also attending specialist foot clinics were
excluded, as were patients who had problems standing or were wearing specially
provided footwear.
"All the patients had their feet fully examined and measured while they were both
sitting and standing" explains co-author Dr Graham Leese. The team found that 63%
of the patients were wearing the wrong-sized shoes. For example, 45% were wearing
the wrong width fitting, with the majority being too narrow. "When people stand up
their feet change shape as the arch of the foot flattens and the foot becomes wider
and longer" explains Dr Leese. "Taking both these sets of measurements into account,
only 37% of the patients were actually wearing the right-sized shoes. 45% of the
volunteers had experienced previous problems with their feet, including ulcers,
callouses, bunions, corns or swelling. Despite this, 22% never checked their own
feet and only 29% checked them daily.

SCRIPTURE
John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world
ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Only IN HIM can we have peace... if we focus on our circumstances, we will
never find true peace or joy.
